Metropolis: Rotwang by Rono22 Metropolis: Rotwang by Rono22
Have you ever wondered why Darth Vader lost his right hand firs or why Dr. Strangelove had uncontrollable black gloved hand? Let's face it, this guy was, is and will be the mad scientist archetype. (Frankenstein was first but whatever) Could you possibly imagine mad scientist any different? I can't think of anything better.
Rotwang from Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", played by Rudolf Klein-Rogge ("Dr Mabuse, Der Spieler, "Spione") with his hard-as-hell-to-capture physiognomy. I really had fun with drawing that messy coat & waistcoat, pure artistry!

Superb! I just saw the film for the first time - and with the restored footage from Argentina. The likeness of your sketch to the actor is haunting.

I thought this was a photograph from the thumbnail at first. You captured Klein-Rogge's features quite well.

Is it just me, or does 'Rotwang' sound like the name of a horrible, HORRIBLE disease.

I'm at a lack of words... :omfg:

Po prostu rzucasz na kolana każdym portretem, jaki wychodzi spod Twojej ręki... A ja myślałem, ze to Polch umiał rysować... :worship:

Nie no, nie mów, że Bogusława Polcha nie znasz :D
Stworzył wraz z Rodkiem i Parowskim jedyny prawdziwy i najlepszy POLSKI komiks sci-fi w latach 80-tych :D

Owszem, jedno z kultowych haseł z Funky Kovala - kto nie zna tego komiksu, ten ponosi gigantyczną stratę.

NONSENCE. Never feel obliged to draw what other people consider normal, I say!

EEK. This is even better than the one of Mabuse. You captured him utterly - the intensity of expression, the acid stains on the coat...

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm taking him home with me. Hee.

Probably you're right. World without craz- sorry, eccentric people would have been boring

Oh, thank you very much, and thanks for the fav, and for the watch :)

Psst, just let him go after you've finished with him, maybe he may be of some further use to me as well *hehe*

drawing normal stuff is boring!
draw or paint things that you find interesting.
but enough of that.
this picture looks great: when i see the jacket in the thumbnail, it almost looks like a photograph.
but what disrupts this impression are the thick black lines. real life isn't made of outlines. you could shade it more to give it contrast and make it look more plastic or add some textures.
apart from that, the shadings are awesome and you chose a good motive;-)
